Synergistic interaction and mechanistic evaluation of NO oxidation catalysis on Pt/Fe2O3 cubes

چکیده

Supported platinum particles with the help of strong metal-support interaction (SMSI) could boost catalytic performance. Pt/Fe2O3 cubes were synthesized by in situ reductions precursors over Fe2O3 cubes, tested for oxidation NO, and further characterized different techniques. The tests showed that exhibited a dramatically enhanced activity NO comparison to Pt/SiO2, physical mixture suggesting synergistic between Pt cubes. not only triggered generation surface oxygen vacancy sites on but also increased amount chemically adsorbed O2 at sites. rigorous kinetic study described specific reaction pathway following Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism dissociation O2* O* assisted NO* was recognized as rate-determining step oxidation, which might be promoted spillover from supporting In diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy (DRIFTS) confirmed abundant nitrates formed suggested NO2 nitrate species.

NO Oxidation Catalysis on Pt Clusters: Elementary Steps, Structural Requirements, and Synergistic Effects of NO2 Adsorption Sites

Kinetic and isotopic methods show that NO oxidation on supported Pt clusters involves kinetically relevant reaction of O2 with vacancy sites on surfaces nearly saturated with oxygen adatoms (O*). The oxygen chemical potential at Pt surfaces that determines the O* coverage is rigorously described by an O2 virtual pressure and determined by the thermodynamics of NO2-NO interconversion reactions. ...
